The Faroe Islands wishes to make it easier for the rest of the world to learn about the islands. For a long time, public authorities have felt the need for a public gateway to provide foreigners with information about the Faroe Islands.
This public gateway has now arrived with the creation of the new English-language website www.faroeislands.fo, which will function as the official website of the Faroe Islands to foreigners.
The website's goal is to provide foreigners and foreign businesses with easily accessible information about most of the topics of relevance to the Faroese society and economy. The website's emphasis is on providing basic information about contemporary Faroese society in an interesting and fresh way.
If you enter the website, you can choose between a number of main topics, such as 'People & Society', 'Nature & Environment', and 'Arts & Culture', each of which provide an overview of the sub-topics. It is then possible to read more about each sub-topic, which will also point the visitor to other relevant websites.
The Faroe Islands is also gaining increasing attention as an exciting tourist destination. For instance, Faroe Islands was chosen by the National Geographic Travel as the top island destination to visit.
